Posture for Therapists
This is a hands-on course with prompt notes and pictures. We will discuss what to look for in our clients and pointing out common posture problems. Typical health issues relating to each common poor posture will be discussed. This will not only help the therapists in their own posture but help them assess their clients.
An assessment of good standing and sitting posture will be followed by how to sit and work at a desk and laptop or PC. Each therapist will be advised of good posture with discussion of the process for others to see and try. This will not only help the therapist but will highlight problems clients have and potential causes. The next stage is to add movement. There will be partnered exercises to learn how to stand and walk with good posture, learning the strength of good posture alignment.
The day will conclude by looking at appropriate posture for different therapies. We will look at couch height and good posture for massage, for performing seated back and shoulder massage. We will also practice basic massage techniques but from a posture point of view, such as how to stand properly and put the body behind the movements.
This is a valuable day highlighting to the therapist the benefits of good posture when delivering treatments as well as showing them how to improve their client’s health with correct posture alignment.
