Description
Chakras & Aromatherapy – CPD – 6 points (IFPA) / 5 points (FHT)
Chakras, the Sanskrit name for energy circles in the body. In Hinduism and some related Asian cultures, a chakra (Sanskrit cakra चक्र “wheel”) is thought to be a nexus of metaphysical and/or biophysical energy residing in the human body. The New Age movement, and to some degree the distinctly different New Thought movement, have also adopted and elaborated on this belief. There will be an overview of these Chakras, their meanings, colours, shapes and their position in the body.
The concept of meridians (Chinese: jing-luo 经络) arises from the techniques and doctrines of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), including acupressure. According to these practices, the body’s vital energy, “qi”, circulates through the body along specific interconnected channels called meridians. There is no physically verifiable anatomical or histological basis for their existence. The Meridians will be explained more fully and practically explored.

What to Wear?
Students at the Academy are encouraged to be relaxed and at ease. For this reason, it is recommended loose comfortable trousers and tops that enable easy movement and do not restrict the body. All loose tops and shirts should be tucked in to prevent ‘trailing’ on the client for practical courses. Shoes should be flat-heeled and comfortable.
