Description
Posture for Therapists is a valuable course highlighting to therapists the benefits of good posture when delivering treatments as well as showing them how to improve their client’s health with correct posture alignment.
This is a hands-on course with prompt notes and pictures. An assessment of good standing and sitting posture will be followed by how to sit and work at a desk and laptop or PC. Each therapist will be advised of good posture with a discussion of the process for others to see and try. This will not only help the therapist but will highlight problems clients have and potential causes. The next stage is to add movement. There will be partnered exercises to learn how to stand and walk with good posture, learning the strength of good posture alignment.
The day will conclude by looking at appropriate posture for different therapies. We will look at couch height and good posture for massage, for performing seated back and shoulder massages. We will also practice basic massage techniques from a posture point of view, such as how to stand properly and put the body behind the movements.

What to Wear?
Students at the Academy are encouraged to be relaxed and at ease. For this reason, it is recommended loose comfortable trousers and tops are worn that enable easy movement and do not restrict the body. All loose tops and shirts should be tucked in to prevent ‘trailing’ on the client for practical courses. Shoes should be flat-heeled and comfortable.
